Suggestive prayer meetings

I meant to do this ages ago, but thought I’d put down something “interesting” that was said at the last prayer meeting. The context was that one of the Elders (I don’t actually know if she’s an elder, but I think she is) was introducing things we should pray about with regards to children and young people. Take it away, Mary:

And this brings us on to the creche. Now we have no problems with people manning the creche, but we only have two babies, and it would be good to have more.

Ok thanks, anything else to say?

So please pray for more babies. We do understand that there is a growing 20s and 30s group, so, if you want to, you can help in this regard!

This doesn’t even merit a flippant comment.

  1. Why would more babies be good, Mary?

  2. best get busy “praying” then… sex might be worth a try too

@bongo – stop being grumpy, you loves babies!!

  3. @Jiminy He’s just worried about overcrowding again. Less dolphins more humans I say!

I only know a few of the married 20-30 crowd at StC and they should totally get on with it.

The rest of you should start the process asap.

    Courage! Ask her out!

  4. How was your Ben&Jerry’s?

  5. B & J was good, maybe seven men should branch out into being a delivery service?

As for the previous comment… no comment! I’m in no rush to be starting any processes!

  6. Lol!! Genius. This is even better than a church leader who shall remain nameless who once while giving a sermon on ‘the body of Christ’ (think 1 Corinthians 12) and got very passionate and exclaimed “we can’t have one part of the body without the other…maybe your the ears, or the legs….or..or…the OVARIES of the church”

    Ahh. Good times.

So should I expect a sudden influx of people wanting free pregnancy tests over the next couple of months?

  7. Maybe, but none of it will be anything to do with me… I reprimanded (joked with) Mary about this and she seemed to be quite apologetic about the whole thing.

I’ll certainly (not) advertise the free pregnancy tests at the next prayer meeting, assuming “affirmative action” has been taken. Though one of the leaders has stated her intent to start matchmaking… Alas the guy:girl ratio is not very even as in most things so not everyone can fulfil the wish. Any guys you can lend us?

  8. Ah, well the matchmaking thing has already started by certain people at MBC (yes NLFO you know who you are….) but I’m sure there are a few eligible bachelors that could be lent to your cause…? Maybe your pastor should speak with our pastor?!

Have to say, similar thing with SA training – we are seriously short on testosterone, and not sure SA is ready for the amount of oestrogen that will descend on them this summer…there were a few girls close to tears on hearing they can’t wear ballet pumps, dangly earrings, vest tops or miniskirts while on projects. Oh dear.

  9. They say the difference between an arranged marriage and a “love” marriage is two years.

Perhaps we could/should just pick someone for you?

  10. Well you could do that, but you understand that this would leave many girls disappointed. But less so than the one you pick. Hoho.
