“Bad Wolf”

The other week, I heard a song on the radio. It was from the year 2000, I think, but I remembered that I had enjoyed it at the time, so I downloaded it on iTunes.

All fine, but on listening to the song again, I discovered that it was not as innocent as I had remembered it to be. The lyrics clearly describe a man trying to tempt a woman into an affair (possibly extramarital, but all we know is that she is wearing a ring), a theme thats clearly doesn’t fit in with the music itself.

So it seems that the music we listen to sometimes isn’t as innocent as it may seem. Does anyone else have any pieces of music that they discovered are less innocent than they first thought?

Incidentally, the song was “Follow Me” by Uncle Cracker (possibly spelt wrong)

  1. Oh, I think of all of us who were kids in the early 1980s were shocked when we found out what Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical” was really about. When you saw the video as a kid, it was “Oh, look, Olivia’s working out.” When I heard the song again in college in the 1990s, I heard those growled lyrics “There’s nothing left to talk about ‘less it’s horrrizontally” and just had an OMG moment.
